The Liberals Democrats: putting people before politics
A little over a month ago, thousands of Sheffielders went to the polls and voted for a better future - they voted Liberal Democrat.
While Labour remain the largest party, with the new committee system in place, we now have a bigger influence in the Town Hall to stand up for our residents and help get Sheffield back on track.
We will put people before politics to get Sheffield back on track.
I was elected to put people before politics, and that's exactly what I'm going to do. I was elected to stand up for the people of Sheffield, and that's exactly what I'm going to do.
As your elected officials, it is our job to work hard on your behalf and put your interests first. That's why I was so disappointed to see the Green Party playing politics in our first meeting.
We were faced with unelected officials running the City, and I knew that was not in your best interest. So we put people before politics and stopped that from happening.
Now, with Sheffield on the brink of bankruptcy, we again face the prospect of unelected officials coming in to take charge. I want you to know that I will do everything in my power to stop unelected Conservative Government officials from taking charge in Sheffield!
We will work across party lines to get the books in order. We will stand up for the people of Sheffield.
I am confident we can make Sheffield a better place for everyone.
Of course we face challenges. We always have. But I am confident that we can meet those challenges and build an even stronger city together.
Over the next year, we will use our increased influence to try and get the Labour and Green Parties to back us on:
- Growing the economy by supporting businesses and creating better jobs.
- Tackling climate change with better recycling and public transport.
- Regenerating the City Centre and making Sheffield a city to be proud of.
- Making the Council work for you by moving powers out of the Town Hall and into communities.
- Improving apprenticeships and giving our youngsters the skills they need to succeed in the 21st century.
We Liberal Democrats are committed to making Sheffield a great place to live, work, and raise a family, and we're confident that we can make a difference.
